ABOUTThis project is a continuation of the typographic voice and visual narrative for Mulan Hua, the legendary Chinese female warrior.
Using the type created in the previous half of the project, I completed a fuller narrative for Mulan by designing a newspaper.

THE SPARKChinese translations to English often fall a bit flat. I was motivated to bring more Chinese into my design and carefully incorporating Chinese phrases, translations, and words into my spreads.
PROCESSThe biggest challenge in this project was how I was tasked to create a very compact informational design with clear hierarchy, yet break traditional newspaper design.
Each of my spreads strived to break the traditional mold of a newspaper, using experimental type and compositions that follow a distinct theme for every individual spread.
